Our Core Values
The Strathmore Law Clinic is an organisation that seeks to serve its community and is dedicated to promoting access to justice. The clinic does this through advocacy and outreach programs. Our values are in line with the values of Strathmore University and propel us towards achieving our vision and mission
The mission of SLC is actualised through this pillar as we aim to increase awareness and understanding of legal rights, human rights issues and entrepreneurial opportunities among students and communities.
In pursuit of social justice, the SLC is dedicated to driving policy reforms and advocating for fairness in the criminal justice system. This pillar underscores our commitment to influencing legislative and policy landscapes to promote fairness and equity within the justice system. By advocating for systemic changes and enhancements, we aim to create a more just and effective legal environment.
In addition to our commitment to advancing access to justice, the SLC is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and driving innovation as a means to promote social justice and economic empowerment.
This pillar aims to fortify organisational capabilities and cultivate robust leadership skills among our members, ensuring that both individual and collective potential are maximised in pursuit of our mission and vision.
THE LEGAL AID CARAVAN
This is a yearly outreach program that is carried out by the Strathmore Law Clinic. The goal that we seek to achieve is to bridge the gap between underprivileged communities and the Justice System in Kenya. With the help of advocates clinicians and partner organizations, the Clinic visits communities in Kenya to provide free Legal Aid, education and a training on Human Rights.
Since it’s inception, the clinic has been able to reach communities in Samburu, Laikipia, Isiolo and Narok over the years. We have engaged a number of the community members on issues ofLand Disputes, Succession matters, Gender-Based Violence, Constitutional Rights and Access to public services.
